As the summer stretched on, our team had the immense pleasure of hosting six summer camp groups from Tekwill Academy Kids. This fantastic initiative led to engaging more than 70 children in the exciting world of robotics.
Our sessions were carefully designed to provide a comprehensive glimpse into our journey. We involved the children in insightful discussions about FTC competitions and eagerly shared captivating stories from our season's journey. They also had the invaluable opportunity to tour our dedicated workspace. Here, we proudly showcased our engineering portfolio development area, alongside the sophisticated CAD-based design and construction zone for our robot. A key part of the tour also involved explaining the intricate process of the robot's programming, bringing its complexity to life.
We emphasized how STEM has profoundly influenced our lives, highlighting the importance of FIRST principles as the foundation of both our competition and daily experiences.
Following our in-depth discussions and technical insights, we empowered the children with a truly hands-on experience. They were given the exciting opportunity to try out the crucial roles of human player and driver, allowing them to get a real, tangible taste of an FTC competition match and understand the teamwork involved.
The enthusiasm was palpable and truly heartwarming. The children were genuinely curious and didn’t hesitate to ask each of our team members insightful questions about their experiences, roles, and the challenges they overcome in robotics. In return, we had the immense privilege of listening to them share their ambitious dreams of pursuing robotics in the future – a truly inspiring moment that reaffirmed our passion for this field.
We are truly honored to serve as positive role models for the younger generation, guiding them towards a future rich in STEM possibilities. It was also incredibly refreshing for us to step away from our daily routine and spend some fun, meaningful time with such enthusiastic and motivated young minds. Their boundless energy and curiosity are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
The highly anticipated and inspiring OpenMinds 2025 will be held on July 19 at the Tekwill Technology Center.
